How to use your personal Google account for Brightspace


Are you having trouble connecting your personal Google account to the Brightspace Google Workspace app?
If you are receiving the following error when attempting to authorize your account, do not worry. This guide will help you get your account connected.

This app is blocked

This app tried to access sensitive info in your Google Account. To keep your account safe, Google blocked this access.


Note: If you were issued a Google Workspace account from your iLEAD school, please use that account to login and link to Brightspace.
If you were NOT issued a Google Workspace account from your iLEAD school, please follow the steps below.

There are two ways to upload files from your Google Drive in Brightspace

Method One: "Quick Insert: Personal Google Account"

  1. Open an assignment for a course
  2. Select the "Quick Insert" icon

  3. Select Google Drive

  4. If you see an account already visible, Select "Change" - otherwise, sign in

  5. Select "Personal Account"



Method Two: "Insert Stuff: Google File Embed"

  1. Open an assignment for a course
  2. Select the "Insert Stuff" icon

  3. Select Google File Embed

  4. Sign into your personal Google account

  5. Select the file you'd like to upload




These two methods should help you utilize your Google account in the same manner as if you had them linked via the Google Workspace integration.
